Particulates in the UK

Particulate emissions are emissions of small particles which are the result of the combustion process in fires and motor vehicle engines.

These particulate emissions are a serious threat to health. Increased levels of fine particles in the air are linked to health hazards such as heart disease, breathing difficulties and lung cancer.

The Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants (COMEAP) produced a report in 2009 entitled "The Mortality Effects of Long-Term Exposure to Particulate Air Pollution in the United Kingdom"
