Fossil fuel reserves
There is opposition to burning fossil fuels for power because it is a waste of a valuable resource. But there is also opposition to burning fossil fuels because it releases the captured CO2 back into the atmosphere!
However the economies of the nations on planet Earth need energy! Unfortunately the fossil fuel power stations are the easiest way for many nations to generate electricity. Adding carbon capture devices would be a viable, short-term solution to the energy needs for these smaller nations.
The consequences of the demand for electricity means that the fossil fuel reserves are being destroyed to generate electricity and to power petrol and diesel engines.
