According to the BWEA there are currently 248 projects with 2636 turbines and generating 3831 MW of electricity (as of 14.10.2009 23:44).
They also report that producing electricity from wind turbines has saved the production of 4329409 tonnes of CO2, 100684 tonnes of SO2 and 30205 tonnes of NOx. These emissions would have been generated by coal-fired power stations.
